coolnvintage and deus ex-machina present a restored, motorcycle-hauling land rover

specializing in vintage land rovers, portuguese studio coolnvintage presents a complete restoration for the world famous motorcycle brand deus ex-machina. carby tuckwell, co-founder and creative director of deus ex-machina, had admired the work of coolnvintage with its distinct builds, attention to detail, and clean use of color. deus has historically aimed to challenge the motorcycle brand’s preconceived limits. after obscuring these boundaries, the team applied this philosophy and broadened its body of work from two wheels to four in the collaborative restoration of the land rover series 2A LWB.

the deus x coolnvintage YELLOW LAND MARINE Nr86 marks the portuguese studio’s 86th project, each of which begins with a full disassembly and individual restoration of parts. this initial process took one thousand hours, plus two weeks for the chassis design, with each detail covered meticulously. the car of choice was a two-door 1966 land rover series 2A fit with a former fire engine that had not run in decades but was complete enough to restore.

the completed project features a chassis mapped with a hand painted deus art graphic. the long wheelbase was a vital feature as the two door land rover was to be used for motorcycle hauling when needed. finished in an ‘AA yellow,’ the car is fixed with series 3 gearbox, parabolic springs, uprated telescopic shock absorbers, new bushings, new brake lines, fuel-lines and fixings, custom badges, and BF goodrich mud terrain tires. while the completed car was first presented at the deus store in the french coastal town of biarritz, it is now displayed at the company’s location in ibiza.
