copenhagen design week 09: technical university of denmark the sustainable arctic cottage – ‘illuhome’ by kristoffer negendahl, jonas vendel jensen, brian hurup felby, thomas mondrup

the tourist cottage ‘illuhome’ is designed for the extreme artic environment of the northern or southern hemisphere with the main target being coastal areas in greenland.

although targeting a rough environment such as the artic, it was also essential to incorporate local culture, local employment and local handling of materials in design.

the structure is easy to assemble and has been designed for series production. aluminium supports ensure low weight and easy assembly.copenhagen design week 09: technical university of denmark ‘illuhome’
