winners of the hangeul idea award, craft combine has created a playful spinning top influenced by hangeul (korean characters). according to the designers, these characters are symmetrical and are aesthetically geometric shapes. two types of hardwood create a unique blend of colors when the top is spun on a table or other flat surfaces.

by playing with traditional tops, one can learn and get used to hangeul easily. the intent of the product is to encourage non-native speakers to accustom themselves with the korean alphabet. ‘it would be a good product for foreigners and kids, who do not know hangeul well,’ say the designers at craft combine.
