the ‘chido mexican restaurant’ is a vibrant location that brings the colorful markets of mexico straight to the west of scotland. the owner, chef john derrick, wanted the eatery to showcase the authentic dishes he had grown to love, and avoid the tired clichés associated with modern ethnic cuisine.
entrance art work
scottish designer craig black was asked to create a brand for ‘chido’ that would merge high-quality, authenticity, flare, and playfulness into one. ‘chido’, the equivalent of cool in english, was the starting point for black, which he based all other elements on. print work was developed in addition to interior and exterior elements, which includes hand-painted murals that reflect ‘chido’s’ commitment to mexican cuisine and authenticity.
