LEGO brings daft punk’s alive stage into brick form

The illuminated pyramid at the center of Daft Punk’s 2007 Alive tour is on its way to becoming an official LEGO set. Announced on October 22nd, the collaboration between the Danish toymaker and the French electronic duo begins with a fan-designed concert model, bringing one of electronic music’s most recognizable stage designs down to tabletop scale.

The pyramid became a defining image of the Alive shows, placing the helmeted musicians within a glowing geometric structure. In the LEGO Ideas concept, a miniature version of the triangular stage sits between two wide, gridded structures, with colorful lighting recreated across its faceted surfaces. The model shows an early look at the proposed set, while the final product design is still in development.

a father-and-son LEGO project becomes an official set

The design began during lockdown, when Luxembourg-based LEGO enthusiast Patrick Harboun and his son started building their own version of the famous concert stage. Their proposal won the LEGO Ideas Music to Our Ears challenge in 2020 and later gathered 10,000 supporters on the platform. Six years after its initial success, the father-and-son project has been approved for official development.

The stage is a particularly fitting subject for a construction set. Its triangular silhouette and illuminated surfaces translate naturally into the language of LEGO bricks, while the surrounding stage structures give the miniature model a sense of scale. Daft Punk creative director Cédric Hervet describes the pyramid as one of the most recognizable elements of the duo’s visual world, and sees the fan-created design as a fitting starting point for the partnership.

daft punk’s robots enter the LEGO universe

The announcement follows a brief teaser broadcast on Daft Punk’s WDPK 83.7 channel on October 21st. A familiar red 2×4 LEGO brick appeared with its underside facing outward, its three circular tubes resembling the woofers of a speaker. The 30-second transmission offered an early clue to the collaboration, leaving viewers to connect the two worlds.

A new promotional film develops the idea further. Minifigure versions of the helmeted musicians follow a holographic red brick through a dark environment, where glowing architectural forms assemble around them in time with the music. The sequence ends with the pair operating a brick-built console, accompanied by ‘Voyager’ from the 2001 album Discovery and ‘Human After All,’ the title track of their 2005 album.

more LEGO and daft punk collaborations to come in 2027

The upcoming concert set marks the first announced product of a wider partnership between the LEGO Group and Daft Punk. Beyond just the building model, the collaboration will extend into new content and events which will draw from the duo’s visual identity and the creative community that has continued to reinterpret their work.

For now, the image released by LEGO depicts the original fan submission, with the finished design still to be determined. Pricing and a release date have yet to be announced, although the companies have indicated that further details about the partnership will arrive in 2027. The miniature Alive pyramid brings an intriguing first glimpse of how Daft Punk’s concert architecture might take on a second life in bricks.
