daniel arsham interrogates physical artifact in new limited edition hourglass sculpture

artist daniel arsham announced another limited edition piece in the form of an hourglass sculpture set for release. arsham took to instagram to reveal the object, which appears to be a continuation from his future relics series.

last year arsham’s hourglass exhibit extended themes from the artist’s ‘fictional archaeology’ work, looking into the ways we interpret history through physical artifact. included in the show were a series of cast objects housed in large hourglasses.

in his latest work, items including an eroded vintage camera and a stack of cubes are entrapped within the hourglass, as well as white granules of sand, honoring the artists minimal aesthetic. limited to 500 pieces, arsham’s instagram caption reads ‘wait until you see the unboxing experience’. the sculpture will be available at daniel arsham’s online store starting friday, june 22 at 12 p.m. EST. see images below —
