danzo studio, founded taipei in 2013 by wei-lun tseng and i-han chen, creates objects that are reminiscent of the taiwanese bicycle heritage, the world leader in bike manufacturing. by using the same skills, processes, materials and accessories, the young team proposes poetic and functional objects such as benches and organizers. the following designs were exhibited at maison & objet 2015 and tent london.

‘LOAD’ is a seating object that can be used as bench and as a chair. its design references that of a bicycle’s by looking into its flexibility to combine different parts and to adapt to various needs. ‘LOAD’ can be turned from a chair to a bench by simply replacing the seating tubes. its easy-building structure also provides possibilities for hanging additional accessories that are specifically designed for multi-purpose storage.

the landscape organizers introduce a collection of boxes that recall different habitats and are used to hold and exhibit tabletop gadgets or accessories. this collection goes along with the form follows function principle and each one of them is made for specific objects. the box lid is designed in relation to different landscapes, being part of a series that contains five choices of terrains: valley, hill, volcano, waterfall and a basic one. danzo studio
landscape – valley

‘valley’ showcases the rift valley of east taiwan and is suitable for long and wide objects such as a pair of glasses, a smartphone or business cards. except for the room within the box, the ridges that go up and down from the front and side views also create multidimensional spaces for storage.

hill – landscape

‘hill’ is mainly designed for jewelry and accessories and consists of three high-rises that have different sizes. larger accessories such as bracelets and watches can be positioned around the highest hill, while the hole formed inside of them is perfect for placing rings, necklaces and earrings.

volcano – landscape

‘volcano’ breaks up the stereotype of an ordinary box by creating an opening on the lid, allowing the users to place pens, rulers, and markers into the crater. the lava lines that flow out from it divide the surface into four grids, suitable for displaying tiny objects such as pins, erasers, clips and paper marks.

waterfall – landscape

‘waterfall’ is divided into two, creating two different elevation levels. the meander river on highland is engraved to prevent cylinder objects, such as screws or lipsticks from sliding, while the lower lake is good for placing larger items, like keys, tools, lighters and even a wallet.

basic – landscape

the ‘basic’ landscape stands out as a special component in the landscape series. it is mainly designed for being stacked beneath the four terrain scenes to build up vertical structures of boxes for saving more space for the work area. besides, it is also capable to be used alone as an all-purpose storage unit.
