de vorm pivots dimmable lighting in any direction

there’s an inherent flexibility to de vorm’s pivot lighting series. its contrasting design presents an unusually dynamic appearance for a lamp, as a curved bell-shaped shade in eco-friendly PET felt contradicts its slim rail structure. the high-quality dimmable light is adjustable in direction, smartening functionality and customizable for any interior design.

the de vorm pivot lighting series is distinct in its appearance as the soft texture of its unique bell-shaped cap visibly contrasts with its lightweight aluminum rail. the bar splits the PET felt shades in two variations: the first as an individually pendant lamp and the second as a pair of shades sitting on a hung elongated rail. as its name suggests, the lampshades pivot around the rail to adjust the direction of light. up to five positions can be set with a total angle of 90 degrees.

pivot started with the idea to create a lamp that is versatile in its expression as well as in use. we always leave it to the architect to decide how the final product looks, by making our designs customizable. with this new lamp, we also wanted to offer extra freefrom in its application, by incorporating a dynamic element into the design,’ tells daniel van paesschen, senior product designer at de vorm.

both playful and functional, the rotatable lighting fixture meets the needs of any interior and any task. the lamps can be composed as stand-alone or in unique constellations in either of its two typologies. this ensures the design fits various contexts, from offices to restaurants and social spaces. the user can shift the direction of light for every need.

de vorm designs sustainably for the modern day

made from recycled plastic bottles, the soft PET felt of the lamp’s cap is highly versatile, durable and customizable. it can be pressed into any form possible – like the bell shape for pivot – and is available in 11 blends and two options. its a material used across the dutch manufacturer’s product portfolio, as they believe it is one of the answers for sustainability in interior design. their contemporary designs pair with technical innovations, firstly being produced efficiently and to maximize lifecycle, and secondly to offer a new lease of life at its end.

pivot meets the requirements of modern architectural lighting in more ways than just its appearance and material production. at its core, a custom LED engine emits high-quality, dimmable light. the LED module is divided into two semicircles to follow the split in the felt cap.
