the design [r]evolution exhibition opened to the public at the french musee des arts et metiers on june 4th, as part of the designer’s days program in paris. welcoming 1500 to 1800 visitors each day, the show runs through this weekend to sunday, june 16th.

 

over 14 international designers were invited to display their works in the 6000m2 space of the 200-year old institution, located in the heart of paris. curated by elodie palasse-leroux, selected designers include arlen & ludovic roth of arro studio (FR), who are also responsible for conceiving the graphic language for the show; yves béhar (USA / CH); claudia caviezel (CH); atelier cocorico (FR); stefan holm (SE); mathieu lehanneur (FR); kiki van eijk (NL) to name a few. see a full listing of the participants and the products they are presenting in the exhibition on designboom here.

 

the historic venue offers a rich backdrop for the contemporary objects, all of which are being shown for the first time in france. rather than develop an exclusive exhibition space for design [r]evolution, each of the works have been positioned amongst the artifacts of the cultural institution’s permanent collection, juxtaposed against devices of a bygone era, as a means of highlighting the technological and manufacturing developments of our time.
