designhuis opened on october 20th as part of dutch design week. designhuis developed out of the design academy in eindhoven as a platform and meeting point for design and innovation. housed in an old courthouse near the van abbemuseum, the building features ample exhibition space as well as a design shop. it aims to create a hub for ideas, products and trends where designers and industry can meet, connect and interact. li edelkoort was appointed designhuis art director in charge of four annual exhibitions, while yksi design will take care of the more experimental side-exhibitions and the shop.

the first exhibition is titled ‘bold’ and features the work of dutch design duo, studio job. the retrospective exhibition is curated by mark wilson and co-produced with z33. it features forty works from studio job’s collection that will remain on show in designhuis until december 16, 2007. this is accompanied by the side exhibit, ‘top end, low end’ featuring work by dutch designers who have worked on designing products for both the masses and the museum. it will be on display until january 11, 2008.
