college party. house party… dinner party? for those times you wish you could open an entire six pack of beers at once, los angeles designers tian wang and teague miller, of DIM SUM CLUB, have created the SIXOVERONE bottle opener. launched as part of a kickstarter campaign, the innovative product promises instant gratification for beer bellies everywhere, as well as a snazzy, 80’s inspired promo video.

close-up of the six pack bottle opener

the six pack bottle opener is made from one sheet of sturdy stainless steel which has been manipulated through a series of stamps. one to cut out the shape, one to smooth over the edges, one for the brace on the bottom which keeps the bottles in place, and then three separate stamps to form the bends.

the SIXOVERONE can open up to six bottles at once

the zig zag of the bends keeps it quirky and fun, whilst the sleek minimal shape allows it to be compact enough to easily portable to parties, barbecues, or a night in with some friends. the product – which is available via kickstarter – was conceived as the perfect novelty party tool, but has proved a little more challenging than expected along the way.

the product was conceived as the perfect novelty party gift

the bend forming stamp which was supposed to take 3 weeks to make actually ended up taking just under 2 months and since the bottle opener is just one large piece of stainless steel being manipulated, when one aspect is off, everything is off. but wang and miller are dedicated to the cause, preparing to spend a lot of time making adjustments to perfect the product and promising that they (quote) ‘haven’t just been sitting around all day drinking beers’.

the manipulated stainless still features punctuations that slip under each lid
