doshi levien weaves knitted rope into cala high-backed armchair for kettal
spanish furniture brand kettal has collaborated with london-based design studio doshi levien to bring out the ‘cala armchair’ presented at salone del mobile 2016. instilling a majestic spatial presence with its transparent and light surfaces, the armchair is influenced by the iconic emanuelle.

cala’s seat frame is made from coated aluminum sections
the open weave of the rope provides a latticed window for visual privacy while maintaining a connection to the natural elements. the form and material makes the ‘cala’ suitable for indoor and outdoor. the wide selection of metal coatings, rope colors and cushion fabrics offer many possibilities to tailor the identity to suit different settings and projects.
