dozendots unveils the INKI motorized ballpoint pen with rapidly moving tip

design studio, dozendots, has created ‘INKI’ – the ballpoint pen with a difference. unlike standard pens, ‘INKI’ is equipped with a mechanism that allows the user to draw a variety of automatic patterns. the special motor moves the tip of the pen rapidly up and down, creating different patterns and shapes.

different shapes can be created depending on the angle the pen is held and the pressure that is applied. the design by dozendots enables a variety of dots, dashes and curves that can be drawn easily and quickly. by holding the pen at 40 degrees to the paper, 169 different patterns can be created, and at 72 degrees there are 120 patterns. the mechanism behind the pen results in some interesting art and the pen itself is also designed to be a beautiful writing instrument.
