downtown design and downtown editions help high end brands and designers to connect with the buyers and collectors in the middles east market. our platform is a conduit for the region’s design industry that exposes the ideas, opportunities and creativity of an emerging market with significant growth potential, says rue kothari, fair director, downtown design.

in 2018, dubai design week saw the event grow by 25% and this trend is set to continue with 2019 being there largest and most extensive to date. downtown design hosted over 175 brands including 40 regional designers for professional and creative enthusiasts to see. established global companies included the return of herman miller, marset, moroso and more, whilst brands such as arper, artemide, cassina and more joined for the first time.

visitors are able to discover contemporary designs from both established and emerging regional talent. 2018 saw the introduction of ‘downtown editions’, a curated section within the fair that showcased limited edition designs from individual studios, brands and designers. from innovatively yet intricately produced accessories to traditionally-crafted furniture, the curation highlighted the rich creativity in middle east. ‘downtown design is a great platform that gives local, regional and international designers the opportunity to exhibit and be exposed to an international audience,’ concludes designer aljoud lootah.
