dydykin studio’s ‘domik ptashki’ is a round wooden birdhouse designed to resemble a natural tree hollow. its egg-shaped form reduces the impact of rain, snow and wind, while the inlet hole was reinforced to protect birds from predators. the project seeks to enhance the interaction between humans and birds, bringing us closer to nature.dydykin studio designs round wooden birdhouse to resemble a natural tree hollowproduct images by anzelika dydykina, nature images vladimir dydykin

‘why birds? birds protect the environment from insect pests; their singing gives a person pleasure, peace and beneficial effects on his mental health,’ notes dydykin studio. ‘domik ptashki’ consists of a collapsible design, which can be removed and cleaned at the end of each season, so that birds can settle there again next year. due to the low center of gravity, it can be securely fastened between branches without damaging a tree.dydykin studio designs round wooden birdhouse to resemble a natural tree hollow

the project aims to enhance our interaction with nature by allowing the user to try on the ornithologist role by observing and taking care of birds. ‘due to the monotonous lifestyle and lack of sustainable interaction with nature, a person lives in a state of constant breakdown and internal dissatisfaction, which does not allow him to enjoy life to the fullest,’ adds the russian design studio. ‘it can be fixed by expanding borders of perception and gaining new experience of human-nature interaction.’ the round wooden birdhouse can be placed in a garden, the nearest grove or park, while its owner can remove and clean it at the end of the season so that it can be reused again in the following year.
