gioa I totally agree with you.
Just interesting to see how the ideas floating in the air go to different design of the head.
Well, everyone has his own result.
Here. I think the size and shape are solved very succinctly and gramatno. Perhaps agree with previous records about graphics.
Very good!
also…. are either of those projects people have linked to realized? surely this isn’t the most novel idea on the planet but it is a real product, and I think the designer did a nice job with it.
Oh! 🙂

I feel like many of these symbols are not going to be easy to see from a distance, such as the little arrows next to the square. I also agree that a few of the symbols like the bus are nowhere near universal.
Additionally, I’ve got issues with the physical design. The density of LEDs is not high enough to clearly make several of the symbols you propose. They’re going to look rather pixelated and distorted in actuality. Also, the LED grid is inefficient, spreading out beyond any of the symbols. If you’re going to design something like this, the efficient use of resources has to be taken into account, and this has massive waste involved.
Perhaps it’s just me but I don’t find the symbols universally accessible or understandable… especially the different bus symbols. I do however like the idea of using easily recognizable, geometric shapes in combination with the typical red, yellow, green associated with traffic lights.
