EFFE imagines a tranquil, forest-immersing experience with yoku spa

the complete EFFE yoku spa debuts at supersalone

supersalone, during milan design week 2021, set the stage for the fulfilment of EFFE perfect wellness yoku SH as it evolved into the yoku spa. first debuting in 2018, the original design expanded into the all-in-one sauna, hammam and shower in 2020. the completion fully integrates the three key rituals – the effects of water and heat – in one system, each with designated spaces. in minimal lines of natural wood, the feeling of being immersed into a forest elevates the experience into a peaceful, secluded spa session.

designed by marco williams fagioli, the wellness system appears minimal to draw attention, accentuate and emphasize the user and its beneficial services. the shower becomes as integral to the wellness experience as the sauna and turkish bath in the EFFE yoku spa. the design is now characterized by a wide shower space between the two, rather than the shower head previously integrated into the hammam. the latest spa version features doorless entry to this dedicated space, maximizing ease of access and freedom to move between the spa. a shower head with a 30 cm diameter and hand-held nozzle are both fitted, offering toning and regenerating effects too.

vertical elements in natural wood – heat-treated aspen and solid wood and canaletto walnut – climb up to the canopy above in the sauna cabin. this creates a feeling as if immersed in a forest for the patron. forest bathing or shinrin-yoku – the inspiration behind the name of the design – references the japanese natural medicine practice where people are prescribed immersion in nature to benefit health.

traditional craftsmanship with advances technologies

designed with care, the EFFE yoku spa is also made with the upmost attention to detail. the whole manufacturing process takes place at the italian brand’s home in cesana, where an artisanal philosophy combines traditional craftsmanship with advanced technologies. moreover, there are no plastic elements involved, while the three finishes (aspen wood, solid wood, canaletto) are not the product of deforestation. each design is created to be site-specific and custom-made to meet the client’s needs. the spa might seem minimal but it has been refined and perfectly calibrated to maximize wellness – and the new evolution of the yoku spa proves just that.

significantly sized at 444 x 170 x 214 mm, the three distinct spaces of the spa resemble a balanced, rigorous design. large 8 mm bronze tinted tempered glass panels front the facades of the sauna and hammam, on either side of the shower. this is also available with an open bookcase with galvanized steel shelves. the environmentally friendly materials finish the wellness design with natural wood slats available in the sauna, stoneware cladding for the turkish bath, and calacatta gold extra and fior di bosco dove grey options for the shower.
