Effe Perfect Wellness introduces its first outdoors sauna

Winter is coming and with it so does the need for cozy warmth. Effe Perfect Wellness introduces its first collection of outdoor saunas, Cabanon. Designed by Rodolfo Dordoni with Michele Angelini, the three models were first introduced at Salone del Mobile 2022 in Milan, and signaled a new departure for the Brand. As wellness products gain use outside, whether in a secluded garden or an urban terrace, comfort, freedom, privacy and personalization are the package deal with Cabanon.

Through the years, Effe Perfect Wellness, looked to bring the sauna – used mainly in collective spaces – into private homes and make it available to the general public. Stylistic and qualitative research lead to designs that broke away from conventional and traditional concepts, transforming the product into modern ‘furniture’ that could be located in any room of the house. For 2022, the Company steps outside with Cabanon – the first collection of outdoor saunas designed by Rodolfo Dordoni and Michele Angelini.

Inspired by Le Corbusier’s famous cabin, the Cabanon collection is a nod to the original Finnish sauna which, in Scandinavia, is located outdoors in a separate building and often immersed in nature. The product is available in two different versions to meet the needs of modern-day living: Garden is designed for gardens and green spaces, while Terrace is ideal for more urban settings such as terraces and verandas. Being 100% recyclable with long-lasting and energy saving qualities, the Company continues its dedication towards state-of-the-art technological solutions paired with sophisticated design.

‘We had worked with Effe in the past and they came to us with the idea of a sauna that could be installed outside. We could draw on our experience for the actual design but, as it was a sauna, the most natural thing was to dig deep into our memories. The first thing that came to mind were beach huts, where warmth and nudity created a feeling of freedom that today we would call wellness. The Cabanon design is intended to be reminiscent not only of the shape of the hut but these feelings too,’ says one of the two designers, Rodolfo Dordoni.

As well as developing a technology that would be suitable for outdoor installation and meet all the relevant safety standards, the aim of the project was to find the ideal balance between two basic requirements: the feeling of being immersed into the surroundings – garden or urban setting, and to create a comfortable, intimate environment. With this in mind, the fully enclosed sauna came to life. The extending deck on the entrance side is made of WPC (wood plastic composite) boards, a latest-generation material for outdoor use that is pleasant to the touch, safe and hard-wearing. For personalization, this area can be accessorized with curtains in a technical fabric for more privacy to fit any client’s preferences. 

The standout feature of Cabanon is that it is modular, making it easy to transport and install in even the most inaccessible places, while the aluminum frame has been designed so the interior covering in wood and the external painted corrugated aluminum cladding can be fitted easily in the final stage of installation. Its three color options – moss, brick and cement – all have a matte finish, allowing it to blend naturally into the surroundings, whether the sauna is installed in a more Nordic, Mediterranean or urban setting.

The warm LED lighting, placed between the bench and the walls, and the soft backlighting of the mirror give the user a feeling of privacy, creating the ideal conditions in the cold winter days. A hand-held shower with a flexible hose and pegs for bathrobes on the deck add an elaborated yet practical touch to enjoying the outdoors experience. Without neglecting the comforting aesthetics, the inside finishes can be in heat-treated aspen throughout or in a two-tone version with solid dark wood and heat-treated aspen.

The Terrace version has a single door in toughened glass while the Garden version also features a symmetrical glass window opposite the door, which channels light through the sauna. For extra privacy, the benches remain in the more hidden area. Style meets function as the sauna’s 4.0 kW or 8.0 kW heater, depending on its size, is covered in the same color as the exterior corrugated cladding.

Effe Perfect Wellness launches steam generator ‘inside’

Alongside Cabanon, Effe Perfect Wellness also launches the 2022 steam generator, Inside. The product is an addition to the Brand’s collection of Turkish bath generators, illustrating total harmony between mind and body for the hospitality sector. The special solution simplifies the work of architects, technicians, installers and maintenance workers as the product is placed just a couple of centimeters above the floor, minimizing an intrusive presence. Regarding the interface, the controls on the top of the generator are in hard-wearing silicone rubber with icons to make it easy and intuitive to use. 

Inside comes in two versions, available in volumes up to 4.5m³. Inside Glass has a standard back-painted white glass exterior which can be screen-printed with the client’s brand upon request, for example in the case of hotels or resorts installing it in guest rooms. With Inside Camouflage, the front of the generator can be cladded in the same material as the surrounding walls, turning it almost invisible. RGB LED lighting at the bottom adds the finishing touch, packing all the top-quality features of a professional Turkish bath into one small space.
