elad kashi: table set

tableset with wood construction

using the table set as the table top is the main idea behind israeli designer elad kashi‘s furniture design. here the upper platform is assembled from three types of ceramic dishes, allowing users to eat directly from the table surface.

the ceramic plates consists of individual dishes, side dishes and a center dish for the main course. they are created with textural elements similar to that of a tablecloth, which aside from adding aesthetic value also aid in lifting the plates from its wooden frame.

  • interesting idea…except…this table would only function as a dining tool and nothing else. While other tables with flat surfaces can allow the double function of serving both as an eating area and also a work station, this one is stuck…

can the white areas be dislodged for easier cleaning after the meal? if yes, then the idea has some redeeming points.
