MONoPOLE No O1: modular bike designed for urban mobility

The MONoPOLE No O1 is a modular cargo bike designed for urban mobility, combining agility with load-carrying capacity. Its adaptable structure allows for versatile use, accommodating both everyday commuting and cargo transport. The MONoPOLE No O1 integrates a lightweight frame with a balanced geometry, ensuring stability and maneuverability in urban environments. Its modular design supports various configurations, allowing users to customize the bike according to their transport needs. The frame’s structure maintains a compact form while maximizing cargo space, offering a practical solution for urban transportation.

The bike is available in both electric and non-electric models. The electric version incorporates an integrated e-bike system for assisted riding, featuring low-maintenance, high-quality components such as the Gates® Carbon Drive™ and MONoPOLE’s proprietary belt steering. The Pinion® C1.6 gearbox provides efficient shifting, ensuring a smooth and consistent ride. The standard version retains the same structural design while operating without electric assistance.

MONoPOLE No O1 bike is crafted for both function and aesthetics

Designed in Switzerland and manufactured in France, the MONoPOLE No O1 is constructed from aerospace-grade steel to enhance durability. The hand-welded frame, produced in the French Pyrenees, reflects a high standard of craftsmanship. The bike’s frame design, recognized with the Monocle Design Award 2023 for Best Two-Wheeler, emphasizes both functionality and visual identity.

The MONoPOLE project originated from FREITAG, a Swiss brand known for repurposed materials. The initial concept was developed in 2018 as a compact, functional bicycle prototype, later refined within FREITAG’s innovation incubator. In 2021, Nicola Stäubli and Daniel Freitag established Toolbike AG under a Steward Ownership model, ensuring that company decisions remain mission-driven and independent from external profit-oriented influences.
