emanuele magini's 'maracanà' is a small stadium for your living room

italian designer, emanuele magini, unveils his latest furniture piece entitled the ‘maracanà’. the design embodies qualities of versatility and comfort as it has been created to function not only as a sofa, but also as a double bed, and above all, as a small domestic stadium to watch movies and sports or play video games with friends and family.

the design by magini is based on three tiered levels, giving the appearance of a kind of miniature amphitheater for your personal living space. when the middle level is pushed back, the piece functions as a regular sofa, however, if both the lower tiers are pulled out, the ‘maracanà’ becomes a place for a group of people to relax. the concept behind this is to create a ‘modern sofa’ that encourages sharing moments together, be that enjoying a movie with friends or simply socialising with your nearest and dearest.

another useful aspect of the design is that it can also be used as a place for sleeping – ideal for when guests come to visit. emanuele magini is a milan-based designer who works across a breadth of projects. with a focus on furniture and lighting design, his projects result in striking pieces, perfect for contemporary living spaces.
