mexico city-based esrawe studio has collaborated with merkki to develop a series of ceramic pieces called ‘fold’ presented at the national museum of art. the pieces are a result of a conceptual exercise that seeks to give an elastic expression to ceramics.

in the ‘fold’ collection by esrawe studio, the pieces become the physical representation of a sequence of actions; the object transforms both aesthetically and functionally. the development starts with the basic shape of a cylinder to which the attached a function eg. a vase, until it metamorphoses into another object which takes the function of a plate.
