in recent years, there has been an increasing number of people in dire need of temporary housing due to forced relocation or lack of means. seeking to provide an efficient response to this crisis, architecture studio EX FIGURA introduces ‘superforma’, a portable survival kit that packs a shelter, a bed, and a backpack into a single compact shape.

‘superforma’ by EX FIGURA is essentially a piece of fabric, that can unfold and shape three different objects. the 4-meter square base is made of recycled polyester — meant to resist harsh natural conditions while remaining flexible.

the instructions and guiding lines are stitched in red, making it easier for users to build the tent, which comes with a portable metallic structure, allowing it to also be joined with other tents to form a bigger community. ‘superforma’ can also be shaped into a bed that protects from the cold; and a backpack with all the necessary space for personal belongings.

EX FIGURA’s survival kit can be easily produced and sent across the world, wherever necessary. its minimalistic design simplifies its production and use, allowing each object to be easily effortlessly built in a few minutes, therefore facilitating the daily journey towards a safe place.
