fabio novembre’s skull shaped jolly roger armchair for GUFRAM

the new foamed polyurethane ‘jolly roger’ armchair by studio fabio novembre for GUFRAM will be presented during milan design week.

‘when people ask me why I wear a skull on my finger, I always answer that it belonged to my grand-father, who was a pirate, and I think I came to believe it myself. everybody should have at least one pirate grand-father in their family tree: it would represent a strong branch to cling to. strong enough to harbour people like keith richards, johnny depp, iggy pop, and all those who live their life the rock-n-roll way, without necessarily having to hold a guitar to express it.‘ – fabio novembre

  • Ok, I don’t usually say “Wow this has been already done” But since Novembre is that cocky arrogant design-star type i will.

Please… Atelier Van Lieshout has been making this since years ago.

    ysl says:
  • ysl, the Atelier Van Lieshout ones are completely different. The only similarity is the skull, and that’s been used trillions of times in different objects. Not at all the same though, and I doubt even inspired by one another.

  • He himself is doing this for years… which doesn’t mean that I think it’s good!

    at ysl says:
  • Yeah yeah, every chair is a rip-off of the first chair ever made.. Useless discussion. We can however discuss wether this chair adds something to daily needs, either in esthetic or functional way..

    Mario says:
  • ok.. chair design aside..
i think the last images deserve some consideration..
posing with the naked girl in a sailor suit??..are you serious???

    rnrjc says:
  • “We can however discuss wether this chair adds something to daily needs, either in esthetic or functional way..” Mario, this is totally out of question. this doesn’t add anything to daily, special or whatever classified needs of anyone. and the picture in a saillor costume is disgusting, seriously.

sad to see so many good designers worldwide whose work isn’t recognised, while this one is acclaimed for thing like this.
