on your next coffee break mugo ceramica wants you to take a moment to reflect and empathize with other living beings. and in particular, endangered species of animals. that’s the concept behind this collection of expressive ceramic mugs called ‘FEROCES’.

the FEROCES collection is composed of eight different cups, each featuring a species of animal native to mexico. but unfortunately, these animals such as the aztec rail bird, the cozumel raccoon and the jaguar are all under threat, or worse, critically endangered.

the project is inspired by the animal kingdom and as the name suggests, the ferociousness of these creatures. the mugs invite users to practice a little self-knowledge while offering a cute coffee companion.

aesthetically, FEROCES plays with the variety of colors used in traditional mexican ceramics and contrasts them with the excessive sobriety presented by trends in contemporary ceramics. the whole collection was designed by marcelo cerda for mugo ceramica and is being shown at the museum of modern art (MUNAL) in mexico city as part of ‘abierto mexicano de diseño’.
