festka produces bespoke porcelain spectre bicycle with gold accents

the festka spectre porcelain is a one-off personalized masterpiece made exclusively for an avid cyclist who resides in bangkok. hand drawn in cobalt blue and detailed with 24 carat gold by michal bačák, the bespoke bike design illustrates the owner’s life milestones and his love for porcelain. despite its fragile appearance, the frame of the bike is constructed out of carbon fiber and functions just like any other high-performance festka spectre models.

‘I have many custom bikes, but only now I see what custom really means. festka has surpassed all my expectations,’ shares suratchaj chenyavanij, the bicycle’s owner.

inspired by the portuguese azulejo and english churchill blue willow decorative styles, renowned czech illustrator michal bačák took thirteen months to complete the entire project. bačák was commissioned by tom hnida, festka’s art director, and consulted closely with the client to strategically plan out all the details. the design shows all the milestones in the life of the owner, from the names of his children to his hobbies such as travelling, playing the flute and his love of bicycles and the sport of cycling. other common figures such as dragons, lions, peacocks and clouds are visible in gold throughout the bike.

‘when the client told me what he wanted, I knew immediately who to invite to participate.’ says tomáš hnida, festka art director. ‘I love the work of michal bačák, especially his ability to work in the minutest detail. the design works two ways – the frame looks wonderful from afar but it’s when you take a closer look that the stories start to appear…,’
