FLEXFORM outdoor collection combines elegance and comfort with durability

the outdoor space is worthy of the same careful design consideration as the indoors, states FLEXFORM. for the first time in their 60 year history, the italian brand debuts an outdoor collection that not only continues their renowned blend of elegance and comfort, but does so with high performance and durability to match. from designs by antonio citterio to re-editions by mario asnago and claudio vender, the range includes seating systems, sofas, armchairs, tables, chairs and many accessories. each one has been crafted with ‘made in italy’ in mind, and with materials designed to last.

weaving their renowned woven pattern from the indoors to the outside, the vulcano sofa by antonio citterio is characterized by a distinctive motif. its armrest and backrest structures are made in austenitic stainless steel 316 – a super alloy that ensures superior outdoor performance – wrapped with a woven upholstery that is available in a sophisticated palette of colors. the padded cushions, which are encased in a special lining made of breathable water-repellent fabric, offer compositional flexibility with their generous sizes.

showcasing FLEXFORM’s contemporary style, the zefiro tables by citterio also amazes with its versatility. available as dining or coffee tables, the design can be crafted in different sizes and with different finishes. its sleek cast-aluminum legs can be powder-coated in white, khaki green, wine red, or burnished or satin-finish aluminum. the design is completed with its seemingly floating top surface available from a variety of stones to deliver an aesthetic to match your outdoor setting.

stepping out from the indoors, citterio’s thomas armchair now offers an outdoor edition. with graceful lines and compact proportions, the design evokes an impression of elegance as well as versatility. the edition is made from a solid iroko wooden base that then extends to the semi-circular backrest. for extreme comfort, the seat cushion is padded in polyurethane foam which is covered in a protective, breathable, waterproof laminated fabric.

created by FLEXFORM’s design center, the zante sofa combines understated elegance with great comfort. its base is made entirely of okoume marine plywood that is perforated to allow better aeration to cushions, whilst the backrest and armrests form an irregularly shaped, hand-fitted pattern from solid iroko that can be finished in a gray stain, natural or white lacquer finish. its generously padded cushions are also encased in a special lining made from breathable water-repellent fabric. at the end of the season, the sofa can easily be disassembled and stacked for safe storage.

also stepping from the inside to the outdoors, the ortigia armchair has an alfresco adaption. in a modest, relaxing, charming character, the seating family is artisanally crafted from a structure made entirely of solid iroko. this is complemented by an upholstered seat and backrest covered in a refined, hand-woven upholstery. the collection is available as an armchair with or without armrests, a footstool and dining chair.

first introduced in 2004, the light peter armchair and footstool has always be moved outside by owners. however, for the first time, the design have been made using thoroughly vetted materials for the outdoors. the elegant X-design of its two curved metal legs has been engineered from austenitic stainless steel 316. in contrast, the seat and backrest have then been woven from a lightweight yet sturdy fiber and/or rubber material.

already designed as an all-purpose accessory, the bangkok ottoman has become even more versatile. the design has been upholstered for the outdoors in a unique woven polyurethane rubber, which is available in an elegant color palette. its three sizes ensure it can be used as a handy seat or complementary piece when paired by side tables.

last but not least, the moka chair designed by mario asnago and claudio vender in 1939 has been reproduced. the outdoor version builds upon the rationalist references of its original design by using material with excelling weather-resistance. its slender structure and X-shaped backrest are made of tubular austenitic stainless steel 316, whilst its seat is upholstered. an edition crafted from solid iroko is also available, which then can be finished with in stained gray, natural or lacquered white options.
