florim reinterprets rare glittering granite through plimatech collection

florim finds inspiration from the rare plima stone

The story goes that in the 1980s, a local businessman from the high peaks of Martell Valley in South Tyrol, Italy, discovered the rarest of stones when he cut a huge boulder from the banks of the Plima river. Right then, a glittering blue-grey granite was revealed, which is where Florim Ceramiche drew inspiration. The Plimatech collection represents the architectural design and reinterprets the special features of this pegmatite stone, proving the versatility that the porcelain stoneware brand aims to showcase through its products.

florim expresses the stone’s special features

Florim reveals its Plimatech collection, inspired by the impressive nature of the Martell Valley up in South Tyrol, Italy. The series combines the many technical and design advantages of porcelain stoneware with the natural patterning and texture of an extremely rare stone, discovered in the 1980s from the banks of the Plima river. With this glittering granite in mind, the ceramics brand reinterprets the stone’s special features into a collection of dynamic textures studded with brilliant crystal inclusions and mottled chiaroscuro.

The collection presents three different colors, adding two further proposals to the typical blue-grey shade of Plima granite (reinterpreted with Plimagray), one in white (Plimawhite) and the other in beige (Plimabeige), thus affording the designer a wide range of compositional possibilities.

plimatech collection is reflected in three graphic variants

The aesthetic heterogeneity of natural stone is reflected in the collection’s three graphic variants: one more minimal in character (01) – softly veined and particularly suited, especially in the large size, while the second (02) is more variegated with light shades tending to white, designed to give a rough, textured character to the space. The third (03) is characterized by its large number of crystalline inclusions, that give it a more dynamic aspect, ideal for spaces conceived as a dialogue with their natural setting, both indoors and outdoors.

For variant 02, the hexagonal motif decoration called Hive plays with the rigor of its geometrical patterning to create a simple, modern style. Available in all colors, the design range is rounded off with 30×60 and 30×60 3D brickwork pieces.
