after his last collection dubbed ‘padded chair’, the seoul-based designer jinyeong yeon introduces ‘padded chair series’; the new collection takes shape as a recombination of prototypes that had minor defects or were left in stock after the season and were reborn in a new function and value.all images courtesy of jinyeong yeon

the cozy furniture products by jinyeong yeon are produced from models without problems in use or quality, but products with secondary flaws such as defective zippers, and items that stayed in stock after the season. the padding is redesigned and recombined as a furniture object to generate another purpose and value talking about sustainability.padded bench

the designer notes that the material of padding is directly connected to the environment, especially in the case of abnormal climate, warming, and feathers, many animal sacrifices are gained. ‘while creating the chair series, it will be fun to feel the awkwardness of the padding when it becomes furniture and to feel the awkwardness through pockets and inconsistent patterns at the same time.’
