FMG’s neogranito project echoes volcanic rock aesthetic using raw quarried material

FMG’s neogranito goes beyond the surface

With a poetic mimicry of the natural processes below the earth’s crust, FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti  (part of Iris Ceramica Group) crafts the Neogranito line. This comprehensive project of full-body porcelain stoneware lends a tranquil, yet dynamic texture to floors, walls, and surfaces. Produced with cutting-edge, eco-friendly techniques, its subtle speckling pays homage to the millions-of-years journey of volcanic rock formation.

Since 1998, FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti (see here) has been dedicated to producing porcelain surfaces, offering a high-end product for designers and architects exploring their creative visions. Leveraging Iris Ceramica Group’s modern technologies and factories, FMG creates premium surfaces that faithfully replicate the essence of natural stones. Following the holding’s sustainability-minded values, the materials are meticulously processed in VOC zero-emission plants, evident in the 2023 proposal, Neogranito.

raw materials and pigment are specially chosen and combined to eco-consciously creates the surfaces

With a remarkably dense grain adorned with minuscule flakes, Neogranito possesses a distinct texture that pays homage to the volcanic rock from which it draws inspiration. Its surfaces are available in a range of colorways including burgundy (Multicolor Rosso), amber (Giallo Venezia), speckled ivory (Cashmere), pearl white (Imperial), and carbon black (Impala).  Additionally, creatives can choose from three moody finishes: ‘Naturale’ for an authentic representation of the stone’s finish; ‘Levigato’ for a softer, polished look; and ‘Bocciardato’ (italian for ‘bush-hammered’) for an handcrafted, uneven effect.

ethically quarried natural, raw materials and pigment powders – free of solvents, resins or chemical additives – are combined to create the surfaces

neogranito’s pigment powders are  free of solvents

Just like all FMG ceramic surfaces, Neogranito is crafted from sands, clays, and minerals that are extracted responsibly, without causing harm to the environment, using carefully monitored processes and specialized knowledge. Natural, raw materials and pigment powders – free of solvents, resins or chemical additives – are combined using advanced production systems. This creates a dense material that captures the spontaneity of nature with a distinct terrazzo-like pattern on each ceramic surface. Nevertheless, the product maintains a consistent aesthetic and technical uniformity across its entire body, making it adaptable for various applications, including specialized treatments for visible edges.
