ariel rojo told us more about the design:

with a 25 million population, the federal district and metropolitan area are one of the most populated areas in the world. crisis, insecurity, corruption and crime are some of the main causes of alertness in our population, but this object carries another meaning, reflected through the immensity an aerial view of mexico city. the city is going through an interesting stage of transformation, despite the political and economic issues, art, design, architecture, music and many other creative disciplines are getting hold in this land. all lights represented in the rug reflect the individuals who inhabit the city and the huge possibility and promise that it could bring to them if all of those lights were seeking the common welfare.’
