back in 2011, matali crasset began work on ‘le vent des forêts’, an experimental project in which she conceived four cabin typologies–or living works of art in the woods–to be built in the forests of lorraine, france, in order to bring one closer to nature. each of the four ‘maisons sylvestres‘ (sylvestre houses): la chrysalide, le champignon, le nichoir and la noisette, is a small living pod that accommodates up to four persons, equipped with a wood stove, lamps and outhouse. the first two retreats–le nichoir and la noisette–are complete and have been inaugurated this past month, costing approximately 80 euro per night.

  • Awkward, yet absolutely wonderful. Retreats for a zen master, or perhaps a forest dwelling race of creatures not quite human and possessed of magical powers!

  • Perfect school space for tropical countries like the Philippines, esp for a Waldorf setting approach
