interfaceFLOR, a worldwide leader in the production of modular and sustainable flooring presented ‘the positive floor’ at milan design week 2011. the project, conceived by italian designer francesco maria bandini comes to life at the triennale di milano with a dream-like maze installation. twenty large faceted podiums are positioned throughout a dimension of pure white which is contrasted only by multicolored textiles that top each structure. reflected in hexagonal, mirrored ceiling tiles, the colors act as a compass that orientate visitors who are moving through the abstract and distorted space.

michele iacovitti at interfaceFLOR describes the exhibition,

‘the installation aims to take people’s perception of flooring and turn it on its head. we have created a physical journey into the surreal where what should be under our feet, the floor, exists high up in another reality…’
