italy and portugal based designer, francesco moncada has completed ‘pizza perez’, a small pizzeria located in syracuse, italy. the design looks to emphasizes the social aspects of dining and facilitate interaction between multiple groups of dining guests.

usually tables and chairs allow the clients to sit in closed groups where interaction between other tables is rare. by minimizing the volume occupied by one single module/table and the distance between modules, interaction between multiple tables is facilitated.

the graphics by point supreme complement the simplicity of the space; they express and celebrate the variety and richness of taste in the food served. all of the ingredients used are mapped out and symbolized by colors and codes. translated into a scientific looking matrix that covers the wall of the seating area, the graphic offers an abstract overview of all available options. on the wall next to the entrance appears a graphic of a life-sized zebra, simply offsetting the ingredient matrix; it is colorless, simple in its appearance and it refuses to suggest an explanation. it is simply standing there beautiful, mysterious, surreal and inspiring endless thoughts and discussions between the customers waiting for a table or take-away food.

a low budget dictated the design and innovative use of affordable materials that are usually found on a construction site. the ceiling and the walls are covered in corrugated fiberglass, and the bar is assembled from metal boxes that hold a steel shelf.
