'fresh animals' by frederic perers is a self-service petcare center in barcelona

frederic perers design studio has envisioned a pet-care center called ‘fresh animals’ in barcelona, spain. dedicated to looking after your furry friends, the project offers spaces to wash, dry and deodorize your pet and also wash their clothes. the interior has been customized by the designer with the use of PVC tiles – a material that traditionally paves the wet areas of sports changing rooms. in light gray and green, for this project they are used as a floor and also as a suspended sheet that embraces the bathtubs – the central element of the space.

due to the wet nature of the spaces, frederic perers has designed them with careful attention to the materials used. the zones with machines have been coated with alucobond, such as the payment point, the washing machine, the dryer, the closets and the vending machine that sells products for animals. the bench and the area where you can deodorize your pet has been customized with wood, while walls and the ceiling have been treated using a black and white background. the combination of color and materiality makes for a complementary and clean aesthetic – perfect for ‘fresh animals.’
