gil sheffi of bakery studio has designed ‘local material’, a small table lamp that uses natural and malleable materials to produce its unique form. the partially enclosed shade is developed by pressing handwoven rattan panels into molds where they remain for 24 hours. a plastic frame outlines the curvaceous form and supports both the light bulb and base to complete the lamp. emitting a diffused pattern and luminosity, the object unites traditional craft and modern industry together in one piece.
