‘bundled’ collection by giorgio biscaro

italian designer giorgio biscaro has developed his range of ‘bundle’ furniture and lighting. the driving feature behind the collection is the material used, an experimentation with a special cotton fibreboard. a fabric that is usually applied for insulation in electronic appliances, when wet the composition of the textile becomes easily bendable with a behavior similar to leather, easy to model, bend and drill. once dried again it shrinks, achieving an even stronger stiffness than before the soaking process.giorgio biscaro: bundled cotton fibreboard furniture

for the lighting designs the material is useful as it is flame-retardant. for the stools and tables it contracts around a metal disc frame to create a structure as light as 400g to hold a person of up to 80kg. being mainly cotton and all natural the cloth is also easy to dye and has a long-term life cycle.
