giulio iacchetti: 'odnom' world globe

‘odnom’ (world globe), 2009 by palomar image © designboom

designed by giulio iacchetti and produced by palomar, the name of the ‘odnom’ globe is derived from the reflected letters of the word ‘mondo’ which means ‘world’ in italian. the base of the globe stands on a tilted mirror which reflects the southern hemisphere of the world. geographical terms of the southern hemisphere are written backwards so it is legible though the reflection of the mirror.

rejecting the geographic conventions, where visually north dominates the south, ‘odnom’ tries to restore fairness and right visual emphasis to the most hidden areas of the earth. image © designboom

  • I bought one of this yesterday

  • Yes Ryan, people still buy globes!

In fact does anyone know where can I buy one in the UK or a reliable website to purchase from?

    Long live analogue!
