created by barcelona-based design studio goula figuera, ‘viride’ — from latin green — is a collection of experimental luminaries that combine two elements present in the domestic landscape: artificial lighting and vegetation. lamps and plants have been found within homes for centuries but always separately. plants, in order to live in interiors, rely on the need of natural light which enters through the windows, and its amount and quality has always conditioned the choice of a specific kind of plant for each interior space. however, in modern interiors, natural light is not always available, while, at the same time, the advances of artificial lighting today allow to grow vegetables without a single ray of sun.

‘viride dos’ has two LED panels with different degrees of orientation and a wide container for plants with greater need of soil

‘viride’ by goula figuera blends the suggestive capability of transforming interiors with light and decorative plants in a new typology of object containing both. the collection is comprised of three different models, each one specially designed for each specific plant morphology. all of them have one or more LED panels with a color scheme suitable for interiors and at the same time, convenient for the growth of the plan. furthermore, the LEDs are programmed to turn on and off periodically in order to ensure that each greenery receives the most suitable amount of light.

the container rotates perpetually at a very low speed to ensure all the plants receive the same amount of light

for plants with a greater need of soil, ‘viride dos’ has two LED panels with different degrees of orientation and a wide container that rotates perpetually at a very low speed. this ensures that all parts of the plan receive the same amount of light. additionally, ‘viride dos’ integrates an ultrasonic air humidifier which increases air moisture.

‘viride tres’ is conceived for hanging plants

conceived for hanging plants, ‘viride tres’ has three LED panels distributed in such a way that the plants are able to receive light from all directions. furthermore, when lit, the three LED panels rotate continuously at a very low speed in an uninterrupted movement that evokes the movement of the sun seen from earth, from sunrise to twilight.

it is especially suited for plants that demand a small amount of substrate

‘viride uno’, on the other hand, has one one static and larger LED panel, especially suited for plans that demand a small amount of substrates, like the tillandsias — epiphytes or air plants) which grow without soil, and get water and nutrients from the air.
