disney meets gustaf westman
Swedish designer Gustaf Westman has teamed up with Disney to turn Mickey Mouse and his friends into a collection of sculptural furniture and household objects. Mickey’s oversized ears become a mirror, Donald Duck takes the shape of a colorful bookstand, and Goofy’s silhouette finds its way into furniture. Westman borrows details from the animated characters and reworks them through the rounded forms and exaggerated proportions that have come to define his Stockholm-based studio.
Gustaf Westman’s furniture has always had a cartoonish quality, with chunky silhouettes and bright colors that give ordinary household objects a more playful vibe. The designer works here with characters whose visual identities are already built around simple, recognizable shapes. The collection spans smaller pieces of tableware and decorative accessories, and extends all the way to sofas and larger furniture.

mickey and friends become objects for the home
Among the smaller of Gustaf Westman’s objects for Disney is Mickey’s Trouser Vase, a bright red vessel shaped like the character’s shorts, complete with oversized white buttons. The Mickey Pipe Mirror takes an equally direct approach, tracing the outline of his round ears in polished metal tubing. Meanwhile, Donald Duck is interpreted as a sculptural bookstand, with his sailor hat, red bow tie and yellow feet arranged into a colorful composition of geometric forms.
Throughout the collection, recognizable character details take on entirely new functions. Donald’s sailor hat becomes a cup, while Goofy’s distinctive silhouette informs a sculptural vase. Mickey and Minnie also appear across a range of tableware, with their ears and accessories translated into the designer‘s usual bulbous forms.

disney’s cartoon silhouettes take shape as furniture
The collaboration expands into larger furniture with the Mickey and Minnie sofas, whose exaggerated curves bring the characters into the living room. Westman also introduces a Goofy Coffee Table and Donald Shelf, building familiar animated silhouettes into functional objects. A Mickey Bar Cart continues the collection’s exploration of cartoon-inspired furniture, with forms that feel equally at home in Westman’s existing catalog.
Across the range, Westman uses surprisingly few details to suggest each character. A pair of rounded ears or a particular combination of colors is often enough. This approach allows the objects to retain their own sculptural identities, while drawing on the familiarity of Disney’s animated world. The characters become part of the furniture’s geometry, shaping the way each piece occupies space.
