hans van sinderen‘s ‘screw stool’ is a flat packed furniture piece consisting of four parts. the seating works as the nut which holds the screw together between three legs. the driving force of the project came from an observation of seamless connections that are present in various objects around us. by making the twisting mechanism and its helical ridges part of the design, the construction is elegantly hidden.

the fastener is divided into three pieces, which makes the thread 1/3 of a circle and creates a continuous thread if all the supports are combined. a mold of a 3D printed prototype allows the connection parts to be rapidly reproduced with precision.
