helene steiner: e12

‘e12’ is a desktop lighting design by german designer helene steiner in collaboration with peter schwartz and anna schulz-pitsch. more that just a light, the design has a built in camera that enables users to take images of documents for archiving. the camera sets up over the table top surface and with a simple hand gesture, takes photographs. the intention of the project was to create a light that was in sync with the digital nature of work. the light has three sides and folds up for portability. it has battery powered LED lights that illuminate a work surface with intensity and accurate colours.
