‘snowroll’ in use photos by satoshi shigeta / nacasa & partners inc.

japanese designer hiroaki matusyama‘s newest project ‘snowroll’ uses the behaviour of rolling a snowball, as a means of creating an adaptable piece of furniture.

the furniture object is literally a large, lengthy white piece of carpet which the user unrolls and rolls from either end to create, ‘benches’ – you can adjust the height of the seats according to how much you roll them. the result is a comfortable seating space for two, allowing room for a small table. alternatively, one can sit on the unrolled portion of ‘snowroll’ and use the ‘benches’ as backrests.
