Alvin Chair by HiTENCHO is Constructed from steel sheets

HiTENCHO’s Alvin Chair and VOTT Speaker were crafted specifically for an exhibition, considering hypothetical environments such as a hotel room and a theater. The Alvin Chair, with its dual private and public aspects inspired by hotel spaces, utilizes an architectural structure for its form while mimicking typical hotel room dining furniture. The chair’s design draws from the curved staircase structure, and decorative sculptures on the armrests are reminiscent of classical architectural elements. Constructed from steel sheets, pigmented plaster boards, and carved EPS foam, the chair embodies a unique blend of form and function.

VOTT Speaker utilizes plywood and polyurethane foam

The VOTT Speaker by HiTENCHO takes cues from Altec Lansing and JBL 15” speakers, utilizing larch plywood and polyurethane foam as its primary materials. A metallic spray on the larch wood accentuates the grain pattern, creating visual interest based on light and viewing angles. The mixed polyurethane foam application follows the approach used in the existing work ‘POP series,’ 2019, showcasing a thoughtful continuation of design methodology.
