florian besendoerfer is a young german designer based in altenkunstadt, germany just north of nürnburg. he recently sent in some images of his new honeycomb lamp prototype. the lamp was developed in co-operation with zellner-textil, the manufacturer of the cell-like fabric which is used on the lamp’s shade. the material is normally used in car seat upholstery, under the final textile. florian’s goal was to use this under-appreciated textile for a more aesthetic use. the lamp shade was his design of choice, allowing the textile to reveal it’s unique diffusion properties.
