situated in the old jewish district ‘pieknalia’ in krakow, local studio hornowski design have completed the sustainable ‘straw bale cosmetics boutique’. the new interior was informed by a strong ecological focus and also constructed at a relatively low cost. each 80x40x40cm unit was only about 1 euro and around 100 were used to form the two adjacent walls, while in between cut-out shelves fill the gaps, displaying the natural products on sale. the mounted materials were treated with a special fire protecting liquid that is used for curtains in theaters – their textured appearance offering an intriguing sight from the exterior.
