japanese company iam sauna has launched a sauna tent and wood-burning stove combo that’s the perfect way to enjoy the great outdoors even in colder weather. the project pays homage to traditional sauna culture—from russia to scandanavia—but makes it portable, meaning you can enjoy the benefits of a hot sauna at the end of a long day of hiking or biking in the wilderness.

DESIGNED FOR EXCELLENT HEAT RETENTION

the sauna tent can be set up in one minute by one person; just pull the strings on all four sides to open and push the ceiling. the tent measures 220cm long x 220 cm wide x 185 cm tall and can accommodate six people inside. the design features two entrances and five windows so you can enjoy views of nature while sweating inside. there’s also an air supply/exhaust port that circulates air inside the tent and a 20cm wide ‘skirt’ on the bottom that stops cold air entering from the ground.

the three-layer tent fabric is a 420 denier oxford woven curtain with waterproofing on the outside. 150g / sqm fiber cotton is used for the heat-insulating material. flame-retardant fabric is used for the ceiling to reduce perforated damage caused by sparks from the chimney.

the wood-burning stove, named ‘tanzawa’, is designed for compactness and high efficiency. when tested with the tent, iam sauna says the stove hit 83°C in 15 minutes and 106°C in 25 minutes after burning. after that, it measured up to 117°C in 45 minutes.

the stove measures 477 cm long x 348 cm wide x 535 cm tall and weighs 18kg. it’s made from iron for durability and features include folding legs, a heat-resistant glass window, and a removable guard plate installed on the top plate so that sauna stones can be easily stacked on top.
