from social housing deep in the amazon rainforest to a thought-provoking leisure and tourist space on the banks of the danube in budapest, students really do have the ability to freely conceptualize expressive, imaginative and forward-thinking ideas. the IE school of architecture and design wishes to nurture these emerging creative talents from around the world. the university has opened the outstanding architecture and design final degree project awards as a no-fee, no-extra-work submissions platform that rewards upcoming creators with scholarships.

IE school of architecture and design’s outstanding architecture and design final degree project awards celebrate, as its name suggests, outstanding creative work of international students. winners are rewarded with scholarships towards the tuition of either the university’s master in business for architecture and design commencing in april 2022, or the master in strategic interior design starting in october 2022. eligible entrants must have graduated between 2011 and 2021 with bachelors or masters in architecture, design, interior design, product design, graphic design, landscape design or related fields.

 

 

there will be one first prize winner, who will receive admission to either of the school’s master courses for the 2022-2023 academic year. the scholarship is worth €12,000 euros towards tuition fees. there will also be three second prize winners, who will also each receive admission to the master courses. these scholarships are worth €8,000 euros towards tuition fees.

 

 

participants are asked to submit one architectural or design project realized during their last year of study. the work will be assessed on the quality of project, quality of overall presentation and the ability to clearly convey the underlying idea of the project. this criteria will be judged by a jury of world-leading designers and entrepreneurs: sean chiao, global business line chief executive, buildings and places at AECOM; susan carruth, partner and head of operations for GXN innovation; jerónimo van schendel, academic director of the master in business for architecture and design; and elvira muñoz, director, principal interior design EMEA at AECOM and director of the master in strategic interior design.

submission winners for the 2010-2020 awards ranged in diverse architectural proposals. solutions varied from social housing in the amazon to secure hybrid buildings that connected residences with public spaces in são paulo, an architecture school in valencia that balanced contemporary design with an old setting, a new town hall in the ancient city center of tyre in lebanon, green city infrastructure, and even a thought-provoking space on the banks of the danube in budapest that explores the development of leisure facilities whilst managing transportation and tourism needs.
