the third year product design students at the academy of arts in iceland held an exhibition – it was the result of a course linked to ikea´s designs. the idea was to pick one ikea product each and transform i t into somthing that ikea would not represent. some of the stundents made the product more valuable as opposed to mass production, some made new products from the old, and some added humor and irony into the design. traditional icelandic methods and patterns were used for some of the designs. you can see here a stool, decorated with an old icelandic pattern by cross stiching into holes drilled in the crosswood. about the exhibition thanks to ragnheidur osp sigurdardottir for sending us this news.
