characterizing gentle curves and soft, natural shapes, nendo adds a bed design to the alias ‘okome’ furniture collection at IMM cologne 2018. the new addition adorns extreme formal consistency to that of the sofas, which were first shown at orgatec 2016. these style qualities echo the natural form of pebbles smoothed by water, with its wide body and rounded edges.

the project, in the interpretation of nendo founder oki sato, ‘aims to go beyond the run-of-the-mill bed and proposes an aesthetically valuable and functional solution.‘ as such, it offers great functional features and decorative values, where its upholstery becomes more abstract with a sculptural effect. the choice for these finishes include pelle frau and kvadrat fabrics.

composed of a solid lightweight structure and headboard, the alias ‘okome’ bed is made from multi-layered wood and polyurethane foam. further combining these elements, the padded bed features bent beech slats and an ideal orthopaedic base, where its mattress height can be adjusted by small metal brackets. furthermore, the furniture piece is available in three widths: 210, 230 and 250 cm.
